I don’t always dress up like a lady, but when I do, it is for an incredible charity such as Talbot Hospice.  They provide compassionate care during our friends and family members’ most important time of need. My name is John Horner, and I moved to the Eastern Shore about a year ago to join the awesome team at Easton Utilities. I am very happy to be a participant in this year’s Pump it Up for Hospice Drag Race!

My beautiful wife, Bridget, and I live in Easton with our two fabulous children, Jay and Molly. Bridget and I have some original family roots on the Eastern Shore, and we spent our honeymoon here in St. Michaels. We have always fancied retirement in the Easton area, and we are thrilled to now be full-time residents. When I am not Drag Racing, we enjoy spending time with our family fishing, crabbing, and camping. I also dabble a little in photography, home movies, and cooking.

I graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a BS in Electrical & Computer Engineering and hold an MBA from Loyola College.  After spending almost 30 years on “the other side of the bridge” in the gas & electric utility sector, I accepted the position of Vice President of Operations at Easton Utilities, a community-owned, not-for-profit utility and telecommunications company. In my role, I oversee the daily operational activities as well as charter and manage capital and operational projects. It is a pleasure to work closely with our rock star employees, the Town of Easton and Talbot County to serve our customers with very reliable and cost effective Electric, Natural Gas, Water, Wastewater, Cable Television, Internet, and IT Professional Services.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Talbot Hospice, whether through me or one of my competitors (but seriously, really through me). I have seen Hospice at work with members of my own family, and the comfort it provides during the passing of a loved one is indescribable.  Let’s race!

Thank you for supporting this event and the Festival of Trees which benefit Talbot Hospice.

For every $50 incremental donation, your name will be entered in a raffle to win either a basket of Lyon Distilling Bayou Batch Rum or two tickets to the Ravens/Steelers game. The drawing will take place on Monday, September 25th in the Easton Utilities lobby at 4:30pm. I will notify the winners immediately and post the results on my Facebook page.
